    - INNERSLEEVE: white polylined paper innersleeve, die-cut to show the center labels (not the original innersleeve)

    - RELEASED: Canadian edition, probably a reissue released around 1980.

    - NOTE: The sound quality is VERY smooth and the vinyl has no surface noise but this one sounds somewhat stuffy like Canadian records tend to sound and the US

edition right above sounds a lot more open. If I had only this edition I would be perfectly happy with it.

    - INNERSLEEVE: printed polylined paper innersleeve

    - RELEASED: This is a reisue made in 1983 or later based on the center labels.

    - NOTE 1: The sound quality has nothing to brag about. (This was one of the first vinyl releases added to this site, since then I've changed pretty much all my equipment

except the turntable and because of that I might nowadays have a different opinion.)

    - NOTE 2: Based on the runouts this is of the first WEA Germany cut from the early 80s.

    - NOTE 2: Based on the runouts this is of the second WEA Germany cut from the mid 80s.

    - OTHER: The Cinco box was originally released sealed without any stickers on shrinkwrap, no extra packing for these albums inside the box.

    - NOTE: The sound quality is excellent but the pressing quality might be just a little better as my copy looks heavily wavy in playback but none of the waves are audible in

playback. The record is otherwise perfectly flat and perfectly centered without non-fill problems.

    - RELEASED: Made and released in 1972 based on the runouts, this is most likely the first US edition or a repress of it.

    - NOTE: The sound quality is VERY good and this one has the best dynamics of the editions I've yet played but this one also sounds a little distorted like all Shelley

pressed LPs I've played (might as well be due to worn out records though I doubt all my Shelley pressed records just happen to be worn out).

    - RELEASED: UK edition probably released in 1972, this is most likely the first UK edition.

    - NOTE 1: Since Decca used BUCKINGHAM matrix scheme to denote their stampers (like EMI used GRAMOPHLTD matrix scheme) this is of a very early UK repress.

    - NOTE 2: The sound quality is strange compared to the US edition right above and the German pressed edition right below, much like someone threw a blanket over the

speakers. IMO this sounds bad and unnatural, especially on the higher frequencies.

On the other hand the pressing quality is excellent and the vinyl is VERY quiet.

                                N 51/4/6

    - RELEASED: This is a reissue made in 1983 or later based on the center labels and the runouts.

    - NOTE 1: Due to the condition of my copy I believe this is one of the last vinyl editions made in the 80s before the barcodes were taken in use.

    - NOTE 2: It seems to have been common for the R/S A plant to mix different cuts and pressing plates from different sources but it's not known why they have done so.

As the etched WEA matrix suggests the PF cut (first German cut) is older than the SST cut (third German cut).

    - NOTE 3: Like normally for PF cuts the PF cut side sounds dark and distant compared to the SST cut side. If you get used to the PF sound then this records sounds a lot

better than the two editions right above in many ways except for dynamics, the US shelley pressed edition has clearly the best dynamics.

    - OTHER: The Cinco box was originally released sealed without any stickers on shrinkwrap, no extra packing for these albums inside the box.

    - NOTE: The sound quality is excellent but the pressing quality is not. Even though the record is perfectly centered and nearly perfectly flat there are visible non-fill pearls

on the surface and clearly audible non-fill surface noise in playback. Ironically the worse sounding muddy brown vinyl has no non-fill problems.

In addition this one sounds significantly deeper and better than the muddy brown vinyl right below most likely only because this is a black vinyl.

The more common pressings with blue London center labels were cut by Sam Feldman at Bell Sound Studios.

    - NOTE: Audio Manufacturing Record Co. was succeeded by Peter Pan Industries in about 1974-1975 and AL was replaced with PP in the runouts.

Based on that this can only have been pressed around 1973-1975 which definitely makes this a very early US edition.

    - RELEASED: This is a reissue made in 1983 or later based on the center labels, probably in the mid 80s before the Afterburner era.

The runouts are mostly ( R/S Alsdorf 56603 A2  STRAWBERRY (G) ) identical to the release right above meaning one is a repress of the other.

Since GEMA was used before GEMA/Biem as rights society on the vinyl center labels this is a repress of the release above.

    - NOTE 1: The center label areas have no thinner ring of vinyl.

    - NOTE 2: This record sounds pretty thin, probably the cut is not the best possible or lower generation tapes were sent to Strawberry Studios for cutting source.

Also, this record sounds somewhat dull compared to the release right above though the difference is not huge. Both records were definitely pressed from the

    - RELEASED: This is the first UK edition made released in 1975 in the UK.

    - NOTE 1: Since Decca used BUCKINGHAM matrix scheme to denote their stampers (like EMI used GRAMOPHLTD matrix scheme) this is of the very first UK pressing!

    - NOTE 2: The sound quality is strange compared to all the other editions I've played and IMO bad, especially for the higher frequencies.

    - RELEASED: Probably the first German edition made in 1975.

    - NOTE: This record sounds very bassy and smooth, very atypical to a German made record.

The RL cut Shelley pressed edition above sounds much more higher frequency oriented and distorted than this one.

I prefer this one slightly more than the Shelley pressed RL cut due to the distortion on the Shelley pressing.

    - RELEASED: This is the first US edition of this album or an early repress of it.

    - NOTE: This is a is VERY good sounding, soft and dynamic cut though due to pressing errors I prefer slightly more of the little rougher sounding US reissue right below.

The pressing quality has a lot to hope for as both sides of my copy are pressed significantly off-center, you can clearly hear it on the last track of the B side.

In addition the center hole is huge, you really have to set the record on the platter otherwise it'll sound really bad (it may also be some previous owner drilled

the center hole some 0,5mm bigger due to heavily off-centered pressing).

    - NOTE: This one is the best one of all the version of Tejas I've played but not by far though, the Larry Nix cut US edition is very close behind only due to pressing errors.

In fact I like more of the cutting quality of the Larry Nix cut edition but since the B-side of my copy is unplayable due to significantly off-centered pressing I choose

this reissue whenever I like to spin Tejas.

    - RELEASED: Most likely the first US edition released in 1979 or an early reissue since the Goldisc pressing plant did most of its pressings in the 70s and was closed in '83.

    - NOTE 1: The cover is quite thin especially compared to the innersleeve which is actually made of thicker cardboard than the cover.

Also, it looks like the spine has been crushed at the manufacturing plant so that there is no spine at all like in many (all?) UK singles

                     (I've seen several such copies).

    - NOTE 2: You can clearly hear the difference in sound quality between the two sides, side B sounds significantly smaller and thinner than side A.

In addition this is one of the thinnest vinyl I have ever seen.

    - RELEASED: Most likely early US repress based on the runouts and the Bill Kipper cut.

                          Originally released in 1979.

    - NOTE 1: Compared to the Goldisc Recording Products edition right above this one has similar thickness of the cover and innersleeve and the vinyl is very heavy.

    - NOTE 2: The RL cut Goldisc pressed side A above sounds slightly bigger and better than this one but the difference is quite small. The BK cut sides sound very similar

on both pressings, IMO slightly better dynamics in this pressing. The pressing quality might be better though as both sides of my copy are pressed off-center.

    - NOTE 3: The RL cut seems to be quite rare, especially the two-sided RL cut which makes me think how did they make the cuts? Were they made simultaneously by BK

and RL and sent to various pressing plants around US or was one made earlier? The Winchester plant was in Virginia and the Goldisc plant in New York,

                     both on the east cost.

    - INNERSLEEVES: two printed cardboard innersleeves, first one with the better known album artwork printed on it and the second one like prints the orignal innersleeve

    - RELEASED: Released in 2010 or 2011 based on the runouts (no mention of the release date or any updated copyright info on this release).

    - OTHER: Originally released in very loosely sealed shrinkwrap with two infostickers on the front on shrinkwrap.

Based on the runouts this is Rhino reissue but there is no mention of Rhino Records anywhere on this release.

    - NOTE 1: The pressing quality might be a little better as both sides of my copy are pressed slightly off-center and are slightly warped.

The two older US editions above have clearly better dynamics but otherwise it's pretty much a coinflip between these three editions.

    - NOTE 2: The Cinco box edition was repressed from the same cut as this one and it has clearly worse sound quality like it's missing its accuracy and edge.

    - RELEASED: Reissue released in 2017 as part of the Cinco box no. 2.

    - OTHER: The cinco box no. 2 was originally released sealed without any stickers on shrinkwrap but none of the five records in the box were originally sealed.

    - NOTE 1: Excluding the two etched numbers the runouts are identical to the release right above meaning these two records were pressed from the same cut.

    - NOTE 2: The pressing quality seems to be very good with only slightly off-centered and perfectly flat record.

However, this sounds clearly worse than the release right above even though both were pressed from the same cut.

this was pressed by Capitol Records Pressing Plant in Winchester and previously processed for and pressed by Allied Record Company.)

    - RELEASED: This is most likely the first Canadian edition released in 1981 since Impact Records Mfg. Co. Of Canada was active only from 1979 to 1982.

    - NOTE: This is an excellent quality though somewhat stuffy or muffled sounding record like many Canadian records tend to be.

The US RL cut right above is much more open and cut at a higher volume though if I had only this record I might be perfectly happy with it.

    - OTHER: Originally released sealed without any stickers on shrinkwrap.

    - RELEASED: US mailorder edition by Columbia House. Probably an early repress made and released in 1983 based on the runouts and the center labels.

The WB center labels with thin horizontal lines were supposedly replaced with WB watermarked labels in the US in 1983.

                          Originally released in 1983.

    - NOTE 1: The pressing quality is excellent, perfectly flat and perfectly centered records, but the cutting quality might be a little better. This is one of the best quality

Columbia House records I've yet played along with the Dire Straits Brothers in Arms album but the RME cut European editions have much better control

over the higher frequencies and they sound significantly better to my ears.

    - NOTE 2: The standard non-club US edition of this album was supposedly cut by RL, I imagine it sounding a lot better than this one.

    - RELEASED: This is of the first edition made in 1983 for the Scandinavian market based on the runouts and the center labels.

Though I'm beginning to believe the two x's on the runouts mean this is a repress made from the third pressing plates.

    - NOTE 1: The sound quality is VERY good, a lot more dynamic and rougher sounding than in the two releases right below.

    - NOTE 2: Based on the runouts this is most likely of the first WEA Germany cut from 1983. This is cut at higher volume and hotter than the cut right below.

The cut below sounds toned-down and dull but has slightly better bass compared to this one.

The cut is undeniably different than in the release right below, you can clearly see it from the width of the runout grooves on side A,

the release right below has about twice as wide dead wax as this release (0,9mm of this release vs 1,9mm of the release right below).

Recut and reissued again in 2017 based on the runouts.

    - OTHER: Originally released sealed with infosticker on the front on shrinkwrap.

The infosticker informs this is the 30th anniversary edition.

    - NOTE: You can clearly hear the two sides were not cut at the same time as the A side sounds smooth and muffled compared to the B side.

The pressing quality is pretty good though.

I prefer much more of the more open and rougher sounding 5LP box edition and the A1/B1 German cut with horizontal lines on the center labels.

    - RELEASED: First German made vinyl edition released in 1990 though based on the runouts this may be repress.

    - OTHER: At least some editions were originally released sealed in quite thick shrinkwrap.

    - NOTE: This sounds somewhat dull compared to the US edition right above. The US edition has better dynamics and more air between the instruments.

    - RELEASED: Reissue released in 2017 as part of the Cinco box no. 2.

    - OTHER: The cinco box no. 2 was originally released sealed without any stickers on shrinkwrap but none of the five records in the box were originally sealed.

    - NOTE: The pressing quality might be better as the record is warped and pressed slightly off-center.

This is a VERY good quality dynamic cut but I prefer slightly more of the US Masterdisk cut above as it has more coherent sound quality though in this case it's

pretty much a coinflip for me as the US Specialty pressing has the same pressing errors as this one.
