- NOTE: The pressing quality is very good with nearly perfectly flat and slightly off-centered record. This one sounds more higher frequency oriented and even clinical
compared to the Japanese edition right below. I prefer the Japanese edition over this one.

- OTHER: Includes obi and lyrics insert.

This one sounds duller and distant compared to the US release right above.
I prefer this one slightly more than the US edition since the US edition is slightly too bright for my taste.

Originally released in 1969.
- NOTE: The cutting quality is excellent and well balanced with great bass. In addition this one also sounds significantly more rougher than the release right below.
The US Presswell edition sounds a lot more distorted and less bassy especially on the last track than this one.
This is like a combination of the Orlake pressing and Presswell pressing: the great bass of the Orlake pressing combined with good and lively higher frequencies.
I like this one the most of all the editions of this album I've yet played.

The first UK editions were released with plum labels.
Originally released in 1969.
- NOTE 1: Track A3 has two titles on this release: the gatefold cover credit it as The Lemon song but the side A center label reads Killing Floor.
- NOTE 2: The cutting quality is VERY good with great bass (maybe even a little too bassy) but unfortunately the pressing quality is not as good.
The records surface looks heavily wavy and the vinyl is noisy.

- RELEASED: One of the first US vinyl reissues from the 70s made and released after the Ludwig cut edition was banned.
Originally released in 1969.
- NOTE 1: The first US edition of this album was cut by Rob Ludwig but it caused problems in playback for poor quality cartridges and so it was recut.
Around 200 000 copies is said to have been pressed from the Ludwig cut and it's nowadays a holy grail for every audiophile Led Zeppelin fan.
- NOTE 2: Shelley Products is known to have pressed records for Atlantic but they usually had -LY suffix on the center labels, this one has PR suggesting this was
pressed by Presswell. Knowing some Presswell made records this was definitely not pressed by Presswell, it's possible though the Presswell center labels were
reused by Shelley or they were in such a hurry to press the records there was no time to update the labels for Shelley. It may also be a pure mistake.
Whatever the reason for the wrong suffix on the center labels is this seems to be very rare pressing.
- NOTE 3: Compared to the Presswell edition below this one sounds slightly more distorted but is otherwise quite the same. I like slightly more of the Presswell edition.
- NOTE 4: The two markings (0B or aB) on the runouts are VERY shallow and VERY difficult to read.

Around 200 000 copies is said to have been pressed from the Ludwig cut and it's nowadays a holy grail for every audiophile Led Zeppelin fan.
- NOTE 2: Of all the editions of this album I've played so far this is the one I like the second or the third best due to good dynamics in addition to warm and the
not-so-distorted sound even though the last track on B side has considerable inner groove distortion. The fact that my copy is in near mint condition might
have something to do with it as well. ;) I prefer more only of the plum label UK pressing above and the UK Orlake pressing above, the former because of
more balanced and lively cut and the latter one is better only because it has no inner groove distortion.
- NOTE 3: I've played only few Presswell pressings, namely those listed under Led Zeppelin here, and they all carry that signature warm and not-so-audiophile sound.
Otherwise the pressing quality seems to be VERY good though as this record is perfectly centered and nearly perfectly flat.

- NOTE: The pressing quality is very good with some waviness on the vinyl surface but no major defects that affect playback. The cut sounds somewhat muffled, is on
slightly lower volume and slightly less distorted than the cut of the Presswell pressed edition above.
For me it's pretty much a coinflip between the two editions, this one has slightly better cut but the Presswell edition has slightly better pressing quality.

Originally released in 1970.
- NOTE 1: It's said Page was unhappy with the first four test pressings and rejected them so that the 5th cut (A5/B5) is the first cut used for commercial pressing.
- NOTE 2: This is an excellent quality, open and very lively cut though the B side sounds somewhat muffled compared to the A side.
The first German PF cut is a totally different animal, very dark sounding but still excellent and dynamic cut as well.
I prefer this the most of all the copies of this release I've yet played though the PF cut is not far behind.

- RELEASED: This is an early reissue from around 1971.
Originally released in 1971.
- NOTE 1: This is supposedly of the 6th UK edition of this album with orange-red/plum labels. Characteristics to this edition:
* band name printed on top/orange-red side of the labels
* Peter Grant credit permanently removed from the labels, no stickers on labels
* inverted feather logo on the B-side label
* Misty Mountain Top misspelling
* "Under licence from Atlantic Recording Corpn." added on the white center stripe of the labels
The otherwise identical edition without the inverted feather logo seems to be much more common than this one, about 5:1 ratio based on Discogs.
- NOTE 2: The cutting quality is excellent and well balanced with great bass. In addition this one also sounds significantly more rougher than the release right below.
I like this one the most of all the editions of this album I've yet played.

- NOTE: The pressing quality is excellent even though this is pressed on noisy vinyl but the cut sounds somewhat muffled and not so well balanced, too much bass and
higher frequencies sound damped/mufled and distant.
However, the bass on this record is simply excellent, even better than in the corresponding US Porky cut. You can clearly hear it from When The Levee Breaks.

This is an excellent quality high volume cut and has better dynamics than the US Preswell release below but sounds a lot thinner than the UK reissue with
green/orange-red center labels cut by Porky above since the UK reissue cut by Porky has excellent bass.
- NOTE 2: I've played only few Presswell pressings, namely those listed under Led Zeppelin here, and they all carry that signature warm and not-so-audiophile sound.
The pressing quality seems to be VERY good though but I prefer more of the Monarch pressing below especially if you can find perfectly centered pressing of it.

This is an excellent quality high volume cut but sounds a lot thinner than the UK reissue with green/orange-red center labels cut by Porky above since the UK

- RELEASED: This is the first UK edition released in 1975 though based on the insert and the runouts this may also be a very early repress.
- OTHER: Includes cardboard insert with two folds at the bottom. The insert contains tracklist and credits.
- NOTE 1: The first pressings do not have Warner W logo on the center labels.
In addition both CBS and WEA seem to have pressed this simultaneously in the UK.
- NOTE 2: It's said the very first UK edition had A1/B4/C1/D1 runouts and came with single fold on the insert.
There should also exist two slightly different versions of the single-folded insert though I've never seen any of them.
This copy with two-folded insert seems to be the most common one of the first UK edition.

- RELEASED: This is the first UK edition released in 1979.
- OTHER: Originally released in a brown paper bag with some info printed on it so the buyer knew what he/she was buying.
The packing is somewhat similar to Pink Floyd's Wish You Were Here LP which was wrapped in black plastic and only contained a sticker to ID the album.
- NOTE 1: The innersleeve contains black and white image but it also contains magic ink which can be made colourful by gently wetting.
- NOTE 2: This release was released in six different cover variations each depicting the cover scene in a bar from a two persons point of view.
These cover variations were noted by a letter on the spine, this one is the A variation.
The cover was wrapped in a brown paper bag so the buyer didn't know which cover variation he/she got.
