Appetite for Destruction

Geffen Records, GHS 24148, black vinyl

    - BARCODE, as printed on the back cover: 0 7599-24148-1 4

    - RUNOUTS:

                 side A, full runouts, etched: GHS-2[crossed over mark]4148-A-SRI-DMM SP1-2 SP-AR B-27798 SRI DMM Sterling 0- Δ-16875

                 side B, full runouts, etched: GHS-24148-B SR5 [crossed over GHS-24148-B SR5] DMM SP1-[1 and 3 on top of each other] SP-SPA Sterling Δ-16875-X 0- B-27799 SR5

    - NUMBER OF SONGS: 12 (6/6)

    - VINYL: DMM cut at Sterling Sound in the US, processed to metal parts at Sheffield Lab Matrix in the US and pressed by Allied Records in the US

    - CENTER LABELS: black Geffen labels with silver text,

℗ 1987 The David Geffen Company,

embossed A near the spindle hole on the both center label areas

    - COVER: simple glossy and heavy cardboard cover with cross and skulls artwork,

©℗ 1987 The David Geffen Company. Made in U.S.A.,

                    spine: GHS 24148

    - INNERSLEEVE: printed paper innersleeve with lyrics and credits (the original innersleeve),

©1987 THE DAVID GEFFEN COMPANY. MADE IN U.S.A.

                                GHS 24148

    - RELEASED: Probably the first US west coast edition made and released in 1987.

    - NOTE: This record sounds like a typical DMM record: harsh, bright and lacking in bass but still an excellent quality record.

The German pressed edition right below sounds more full-bodied but has worse top-end and the 2015 reissue simply sounds so disgustingly clinical.

                               ©1987 THE DAVID GEFFEN COMPANY.,

                               924 148-1

    - RELEASED: Probably a repress of the first German edition made and released around 1987.

    - NOTE 1: Unlike most of the early US counterparts (AFAIK all except the record club editions) this record is not a DMM record.

    - NOTE 2: The top-end has something to hope for but otherwise this is a very good quality record. The US edition above has a lot better top-end but is also

                     missing something from the bottom-end.

    - RELEASED: Reissue made and released in 2015.

                          Originally released in 1987.

    - OTHER: Originally released sealed without any stickers on shrinkwrap.

Apparently identical edition but with numbered infosticker on shrinkwrap and limited to 500 copies was sold at one shop in the Netherlands.

    - NOTE 1: This is not a bad record at all but sounds so disgustingly clinical (most likely because this was cut from a digital source).

In addition the German made edition right above has a lot more full-bodied sound than this one and the US edition above has a lot better top-end.

    - NOTE: 2: This is a model example of GZ quality control: I got my copy new and sealed in shrinkwrap but the record was full of fingerprints and scratches.
