    - VINYL: cut at and pressed by Philips at Chingford/Walthamstow, Greater London, in the UK (known as Phonodisc Ltd. at the time)

    - CENTER LABELS: black WWA labels with silver and white text,

    - RELEASED: Reissue released in 1973 or 1974 based on the label history (WWA existed only for a short while between 1973-1974).

                          Originally released in 1970.

    - NOTE 1: The sound quality is excellent, this is clearly the best quality record of this album I have yet played. Some people even say this WWA pressing is the best version

of this album you can ever get but only very few people care to specify which pressing (yes, there are more than one WWA pressings circulating out there,

see the release right below). However, despite the different cuts these two WWA pressings are close to one another this one having slightly better dynamics.

    - NOTE 2: Based on the runouts this was likely pressed from the same second cut or at least made in the same plant as the earlier Vertigo pressings.

see the release right above). However, despite the different cuts these two WWA pressings are close to one another.

    - NOTE 2: Based on the runouts this is a strange transitional pressing since the runouts contain hints to WWA and the next NEMS pressing.

All NEMS pressing should be made after the WWA pressings since NEMS was Black Sabbath's label after WWA was closed in 1974.

    - RELEASED: Reissue made and released in 1985.

                          Originally released in 1970.

    - NOTE: The pressing quality is excellent and the record is nearly perfectly flat but the sound quality is also somewhat flat compared to the two WWA editions right above.

The two WWA copies above sound more alive and clearly have better dynamics. If I had only this edition I might be perfectly happy with it.

    - INNERSLEEVE: white polylined paper innersleeve, die-cut from both sides to show the center labels (the original innersleeve)

    - RELEASED: Reissue released in 2010 based on the runouts though this may also be repress.

                          Originally released in 1970.

    - OTHER: Originally released sealed with big infosticker on the shrinkwrap, no barcode on the cover.

Rhino Vinyl and Rhino Records logos are printed only on the sticker on shrinkwrap.

    - NOTE: This is a very good quality though VERY bright cut, the WWA pressing above sounds a lot less bright and A LOT more pleasing to my ears than this one.

Also, the pressing quality has a lot to hope for as my copy is slightly warped and both sides are pressed way off-center.

    - NOTE: The sound quality is VERY good, soft but also somehow distant even though (or perhaps because) my copy is well used, scratched and beaten up.

This is simply the best one of all the editions of Paranoid I've yet played.

                          Originally released in 1970.

    - NOTE: Even though my copy is well used, scratched and beaten up this record sounds very nice.

This is one the best editions of Paranoid I've yet played though strangely my copy sounds VERY different when played with my three different cartridges.

It may well be my copy has been played to death with one type of needle.

the extra song mentioned only on the center label is Jack the Stipper on the B-side)

    - VINYL: cut by Kevin Gray at AcousTech Mastering in the US, processed by RTI in the US in 2004 and pressed by Rainbo in late 2006 or early 2007 based on the runouts

    - CENTER LABELS: olive green Warner Bros. labels with black text,

Warner Bros. Records Inc. Manufactured & Marketed by Rhino Vinyl, a Warner Music Group Company. Made in U.S.A.,

    - COVER: gatefold cover,

78976 (on the front cover), R1 78976 (on the spine)

    - INNERSLEEVE: white polylined paper innersleeve, die-cut from both sides to show the center labels (the original innersleeve)

    - RELEASED: Reissue first pressed by RTI and released in 2004. This is a Rainbo repress pressed in 2006 (confirmed by Rainbo) or maybe

even a later Rainbo repress (Rainbo doesn't seem to be changing the runouts for represses).

                          Originally released in 1970.

    - OTHER: Originally released sealed with infosticker on the front on shrinkwrap, no barcode on the cover.

Rhino Vinyl logo is printed only on the sticker on shrinkwrap.

    - NOTE 1: This record contains the mysterious volume level rise at the beginning of War Pigs. It's said the volume level rise originates from the first US master tape

and therefore is in MANY early US vinyl editions of this album. If that's true then this was cut from the original US master tapes.

    - NOTE 2: This is a very good quality though bright and somewhat strange sounding cut that some people love and some people hate.

After playing this record dozens of times and with all the time better equipment I've turned from the first group to the latter.

The UK pressing above sounds a lot less bright and also much more balanced and it doesn't have the volume level rise in War Pigs.

    - NUMBER OF SONGS: 8 or 9 (4/4 or 4/5, five grooves are cut on B-side but only four tracks are credited on the center labels and the back cover)

    - VINYL: pressed by and probably also cut at Rainbo in the US

    - CENTER LABELS: black NEMS labels with white text,

                                     ℗ NEMS 1976,

                                     NEL 6003

    - COVER: simple cardboard cover,

                    NEL 6003

    - INNERSLEEVE: plain white paper innersleeve, rounded corners and die-cut from both sides to show the center labels (the original innersleeve)

    - RELEASED: Reissue pressed in 2006 based on the runouts and Rainbo history though it's claimed this was repressed and released also in 2011 on various vinyl colours.

This is most likely of the 2011 repress (bought my copy around that time).

                          Originally released in 1970.

    - OTHER: Originally released sealed with infosticker on the front on shrinkwrap but no barcode or any indication of the vinyl colour.

    - NOTE 1: The pressing quality and sound quality are very good but the vinyl material quality has not much to brag about.

Due to the disgustingly clinical sound quality this was most likely cut from a digital remaster.

Also, there is no volume level rise in War Pigs meaning this was not cut from the first US master tape.

    - NOTE 2: At a quick glance the vinyl looks almost clear like a glass but soon you'll notice the slight yellowish colour of the vinyl (ie the vinyl is not truly clear like a glass)

and on closer inspection there are all sort of impuries and colour fluctuations on it, much like in the coloured vinyl pressed by Optimal Media.

    - COVER: fully laminated box cover with embossed band name and album title on the front cover,

    - INNERSLEEVE: white polylined paper innersleeve, die-cut from both sides to show the center labels (not the original innersleeve)

    - RELEASED: Early repress based on the runouts.

                          Originally released in 1971.

    - OTHER: Supposedly originally included Vertigo swirl innersleeve and poster.

    - NOTE 1: Like usually for the UK Philips plant this record sounds quite bassy and stuffy though the pressing quality seems to be excellent.

Unfortunately my copy skipped frequently so I returned it. After I got the release right below I started believing the fault was either in the pressing or in the cut.

    - NOTE 2: The B-side of the NEMS pressing below sounds somewhat more compressed and more focused than the B-side of this record.

I definitely prefer the B-side of the NEMS pressing below over this one.

    - VINYL: cut at and pressed by Philips at Chingford/Walthamstow, Greater London, in the UK

    - CENTER LABELS: black and white WWA labels with tracklist and silver and white text,

                                     ℗ 1971

    - COVER: fully laminated simple cover with purple band logo but no embossed band name and album title on the front cover,

Printed in England by Robor Limited,

                    WWA008

                    DE LUXE,

                    spine: ■ WWA ■ BLACK SABBATH ■ MASTER OF REALITY ■ WWA008

    - INNERSLEEVE: white polylined paper innersleeve, die-cut from both sides to show the center labels (not the original innersleeve)

    - RELEASED: Supposedly the first UK reissue from 1973-1974 since WWA Records only existed a short time between 1973-1974.

                          Originally released in 1971.

    - NOTE 1: Like usually for the UK Philips plant this record sounds quite bassy and stuffy though the pressing quality seems to be excellent.

Unfortunately my copy skips frequently. I believe the fault is either in the pressing or in the cut.

The B side of this release was pressed from the same cut as the release right above.

    - NOTE 2: The B-side of the record right below sounds somewhat more compressed and more focused than the B-side of this record.

I definitely prefer the B-side of the record right below over this one.

    - NOTE 1: This is a very good quality vinyl but the B-side sounds significantly better than the A-side.

I even like the B-side of this record more than the B-side of the Philips pressing right above.

    - OTHER: Cut from the original analog masters.

Includes poster (R1 2562  PRINTED IN U.S.A., replica of the original poster that came with the UK edition).

Originally released sealed with big infosticker on the front on shrinkwrap, no barcode on the cover.

                          Originally released in 1972.

    - OTHER: Originally released sealed with big infosticker on the front on shrinkwrap, no barcode on the cover. Includes insert.

Rhino Vinyl and Rhino Records logos are printed only on the sticker on shrinkwrap.

The sticker informs this is a 180-gram vinyl cut from the original analog masters.

    - NOTE: This is an very good quality and smooth though slightly stuffy sounding cut but unfortunately the pressing quality is poor as my copy is warped and has the worst

clearly audible non-fill on side B I've yet encountered.

Despite its pressing deficiencies this edition has practically no pre-echo at all.

This one sounds significantly smoother and stuffier than the Peckham cut above.

However, the Peckham cut still remains my best playing copy even though it's pressed off-center.

                          Originally released in 1973.

    - NOTE 1: I've been told the UK vinyl were made thinner after the first oil crises in 1973, based on that this is of the first edition or some very early repress as the

                     runouts indicate.

    - NOTE 2: Along with the release right below this is by far the best edition of this album I've yet played, excellent pressing with great cut.

I prefer this one slightly more even though this is very close to the release right below.
